May 20, 2017: Creating Your Unique Writer’s Journey

From Aspiring to Professional Author: Creating Your Unique Writer’s Journey

As I journeyed from writing my first crappy draft to publishing five novels, I learned a lot and had to re-do many things, which cost time and money. My goal is to help authors create a strong foundation in preparation for their professional careers. By understanding what your career will look like and require you can establish key components from the beginning.

In Aspiring to Professional Authors: Creating Your Unique Writer’s Journey, you’ll figure out what steps will benefit you most, how to stay focused on your goals without becoming overwhelmed, and set up a supportive framework for when you are a successful author.

Alica McKenna Johnson lives in Southern Arizona with her kids, her cats, and the many voices in her head yammering for their stories to be told. Fueled by her love of people, travel, and cultures, Alica writes emotionally rich stories. Snark, humor, and magic are woven through her books. When not writing, Alica supports other people’s writing dreams. Through individual and group coaching programs she gives back the support, skills, techniques, and passion that other writers gave, and continue to give, to her. During her free time, which you need a magnifying glass to find, she can be found binge watching Netflix, at the movies with friends, or getting her yoga on.

In the afternoon, there will be Table Talks – each table having a discussion lead by fabulous RWA authors.  Rose Ortiz  will be talking about Scapple by Scrivner; Vicki Loebel will discuss some Promo Strategy (what’s worked so far, what hasn’t); Amanda Gordon has hints about Social Media; JC DeLorenzo will give us some insights into branding and new cover trends.

The price for attending is $25 for members and $30 for guests. Please reserve your spot before Wednesday of the week of the meeting. We look forward to seeing you!
