Indie vs. Traditional Publishing, Why I Adore One but Stay with Both
Kristen will give a brief history of her experience as a hybrid writer, starting out independently published, then taking on traditional contracts with Grand Central Publishing and St. Martin’s along with her self-published work. She’ll share what she feels are the pros and cons of each and what the future might bring. She’ll also invite attendees to share their own experiences, opinions and advice and ask questions.
Luck and Work, You Need Both
After writing for fifteen years and being rejected (or ignored) by every publishing house and agent she submitted to, Kristen will explain how she continued to write, submit, and lay the foundation of what would become a career where she (so far) has sold over two million books. At the end of the presentation, Kristen would be delighted to take questions about her journey.
About Kristen Ashley
risten Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
